It’s been a real privilege to work with the Mother Shipton estate on a new brand identity, throughout the project the creative team have immersed themselves in the remarkable story of Ursula Sontheil (Mother Shipton) born 1488 who grew up to be a huge celebrity of her day and the UK’s most celebrated prophetess.
Mother Shipton’s cave, formerly ‘the dropping well’ is famous for turning everyday objects into stone and is England’s oldest tourist attraction. We have worked with the estate to establish the park’s reputation as a centre for local folklore and the brand has been developed with this in mind. We have considered colour, animation, sound, tone of voice, typography, and a range of products to bring this remarkable story to a whole new audience for years to come.
